Need For A Little Venting

Well today I received a memo from our agency and they have made a few changes in the fee schedule. With the international adoptions slowing down in some of the countries the agencies are beginning to feel the financial crunch...and by me stating this you guessed right we as the prospective adoptive parents are going to have to hand over a little more cash. It is interesting how creative one can be by changing a few things around in order to keep the money coming in and the business going...we are now going to have to pay a nice little amount for every year that our file is in waiting with our agency. I'm not sure what to think of this new change...I understand it but man go figure we are currently in one of the longest program waits with selecting China. I'm not trying to sound like I'm complaining...I like to call it venting. I totally understand that if the agency isn't up and running then I won't be adopting again and I certainly don't want that to happen.

Reality Is Starting To Sink In...

After reading the currently published article in Macleans I am starting to think that the slight hope I had of China speeding up in the adoption world after the Olympics was over is now gone. I was really holding onto this small glimmer of hope and am now realizing that the Olympics really don't have anything to do with the slow down...there are so many other factors that are the reason for the slow down. Am I feeling a little discouraged? Yes especially when I read the year 2016 for those starting out now...wow that is quite a ways away. Am I rethinking my decision on China...sometimes...but I still feel deep down that a sibling from China for Olivia is exactly the right thing.
We are still waiting for our log in date from China which we probably won't know until July or August when CB receives their next batch of referrals (CB receives log in dates when they receive referrals). I assuming that our log in date will be sometime in May 2008.
