The Latest...

No big news on the referral front for us, we are still waiting.  I figured out that there are 683 days of dossiers ahead of us, doesn't sound like a lot but when they are only referring 5 days out of a month that is one huge number.  I'm still holding out a little hope that they will increase the amount of days referred...I would even be happy if they brought it up it to 10 days. 

Anyways back to the reason of my post.  CCAA has made a few changes one being thier name...they are no longer the China Center of Adoption Affairs but is now called China Centre for Children's Welfare and Adoption...aka CCCAW...sure is a bit of a mouthful.  Below is the CCCAW announcement.

...the China Centre of Adoption Affairs (hereinafter referred to as CCAA) changed its name into China Centre for Children’s Welfare and Adoption (hereinafter referred to as CCCWA) on 15 Feb., 2011. The CCCWA will continue to be responsible for dealing with inter-country adoptions and will assume the responsibility of developing, managing and maintaining the National System of Information Management for Child Welfare. Moreover, the CCCWA will also undertake tasks in relation to child welfare and domestic adoption that the MCA entrusts as well as other assigned missions.

The next new change that they have put in place is the post placement reports...those are the reports we are to do upon return from China so they can follow and up and see how the children are adjusting to their new family and home.  What this change means is that we will be going from doing 2 reports to 6.  China implemented this rule due to some awful things that have occured to some Chinese adopted children...I certainly hope that this will help stop those horrible things from happening.

POST PLACEMENT REPORTING FOR CHINA ADOPTIONS


1.Post Placement Reports must be done by Hague accredited agencies.

2.A total of six (6) reports must be submitted after the adoption. The reports will be due at 1 month, 6 months, and 12 months. Additional reports will be due at 2 years, 3 years, and 5 years after the adoption (unless the child turns 18 years old before the report is due).

3.Each Post Placement Report must include a minimum of 8 photographs of the child showing his/her current life and family.

These new Post Placement requirements will apply to all families who receive their Travel Approval after August 1, 2011.

Well that is about it for today...we continue to wait and see what the Lord has in store for us with this adoption.
